One year on, a lot has changed, but was it for the best
Clinging on to days once spent, with your head upon my chest
If only I had a time machine, I’d travel back a year
But first a quick pitstop, to meet Jimi Hendrix for a beer
“Don’t Mug Yourself” The Streets once sang, Probably should have taken note
But you’ve got to learn the hard way, to write songs that people quote
Some memories fade & some do stick, let’s hope these were the later
‘Cause one year on, I’ll try and make things better
One year on, my songs are playing on the radio
One year on, I’m playing sold out shows at clubs we used to go
One year on, these words I wrote about you’ve become a hit
But I’d drop all that in a second, ‘cause you were really fit
One year on, there’s been a girl or two to catch my gaze
All fell by the wayside, an enigmatic haze
May have the walk, the talk, the gab, a little bit of swagger
But five pints down and a Jagerbomb, that sway becomes a sagger
Now Tinders out and i’ve swiped every girl in twenty
Hoping that we’ll match again, the usual denial
The night will end the same old way, I’m on the bus alone
Scrolling through my photos, to find your picture on my phone
One year on, my songs are playing on the radio
One year on, I’m playing sold out shows at clubs we used to go
One year on, these words I wrote about you’ve become a hit
But I’d drop all that in a second, ‘cause you were really fit
